Felipe Galiano has been appointed Creative Director of AKQA’s Tokyo studio. A former AKQA Amsterdam team member, Felipe re-joins from a digital marketing specialist based in Berlin, where he was Associate Creative Director. Bringing more than 10 years of leadership experience creating award-winning work to the team, he will lead the Tokyo Creative and Design practice.
On his appointment, Felipe said: “AKQA’s interdisciplinary culture and dedication to producing the highest level of work makes me excited about returning to the company. I’m looking forward to joining the Tokyo studio, collaborating with the team and clients to create groundbreaking experiences.”

Founded in 2012, AKQA Tokyo has grown from its founding relationship with Nike Japan to creating innovative and beautifully crafted work for clients including BMW-MINI, Amazon and Westbank. In 2017, the studio created the Clutch Bucket Tokyo event, Nike Japan’s most successful event activation to date with NBA superstar Kyrie Irving’s first visit to Japan. Tokyo also led a fully integrated campaign launch for American Express’ small business initiative called Shop Local, using VR technology and a London double decker bus to inspire merchants and customers to shop with American Express.
