Senior Management Accountant

As a team member of the AKQA finance team, you will ensure monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reporting is completed and delivered accurately by the given deadlines. The Senior Management Accountant will play a key role in meeting internal compliance & audit related requirements for AKQA London & Sweden studios.

As a business partnering role, this position requires strong technical abilities and operational awareness. The role will involve working closely and supporting the Financial Controller across both studios.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Preparation of the monthly Flash Income Statement including the ability to analyse accounts and understand activity within the month providing commentary on all material variances.
  • Monthly review of the balance sheet and explanation of variances against previous quarters.
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations – including ability to investigate reconciling items and ensuring correct classification of assets and liabilities.
  • Submit all WPP group reporting submissions using ERP software (SAP BFC/Cartesis) and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure intercompany accounts have been reported and agreed between parties in a timely basis. Be able to provide a synopsis for any mismatches at month end.
  • Raise monthly intercompany invoices for both studios.
  • Preparing monthly/ weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Review the set up and maintenance of new Beneficiaries in our Finance System (MAS/Sage500).
  • Perform monthly cash pooling reconciliation for AKQA London.
  • Revaluation of foreign debtors and creditors each month.
  • Prepare and process month end journals/ reclassifications.
  • Monthly freelancer analysis.
  • Prepare monthly payroll journal for AKQA Sweden.
  • Reconciliation of monthly payroll to rolling budget for AKQA Sweden.
  • Preparing monthly month end packs for both studios.
  • Assist with the budget and quarterly forecasts and help input into SAP BFC.
  • Maintenance of GL codes and BFC mapping.
  • Approve coding for invoices as needed.
  • Monthly preparation of gift register for both studios.
  • Assist in submission of additional information required by WPP under quarterly reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of the notes to the Statutory Annual Accounts for AKQA London.
  • Be a point of contact during internal and external audits.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller with preparation of tax submissions (including VAT, Corporation Tax & RDEC).
  • Assisting to maintain and implement the Risk Control Matrix for both studios.
  • Assist with standardising processes across both studios.
  • Assist with ensuring that appropriate SOX processes are being adhered, maintained and updated as communicated by WPP.
  • Supporting with system implementations.
  • Suggesting process efficiencies.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in a Management Accountant role / similar is essential – with specific experience of having prepared monthly cost analysis.CIMA / ACCA Part Qualified desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of having worked for a medium/large size entity and comfortable with handling large volumes of data.
  • Experience of having worked in a strong controls’ environment is desirable.
  • Strong excel skills, experience of Sage 500 and BFC/Cartesis, preferable but not essential.
  • Quick to learn and adaptable to changing work allocation.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proactive /enthusiastic with a can-do attitude.
  • Shows initiative through encouraging and initiating change and challenges the status quo.
  • Professional excellence: advanced written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; high level of numeracy and accuracy.
  • Proven planning and organisation skills, able to prioritise high volume workload and multitask as required to ensure completion within given time frames.
  • Teamwork: proactively provide assistance to teammates outside of regular day-to-day responsibilities.
