Senior Motion Graphics Designer
Senior Motion Graphics Designer (REQ #R106) position available with AKQA, Inc. in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities: Apply solid understanding of motion graphic design principles to develop innovative and engaging digital experiences for prestigious global client brands by translating abstract concepts into simple and elegant motion graphic interfaces. Champion motion graphic and interactive design principles and processes, ensuring AKQA’s advertising campaigns meet both business and user goals. Lead a team of Motion Graphic Designers, managing and maintaining creative control or server key accounts, and assuming responsibility for all documentation produced by the Motion Graphic Design Team. Create key projects, developing project timelines and ensuring they are distributed across the business to relevant people (e.g., client team, creative directors). Conceptualize initial motion design concepts and create storyboards, concept models, motion graphic, and interactive design sketches and schematics that communicate how interactivity and motion design graphics will be executed. Translate information architecture and schematics into design while evolving design principles, standards, and best practices. Define consumers, processes, and ideas from an objective point of view (POV) based on research and insight, and effectively communicate this POV with senior management on both the agency and client sides. Pursue opportunities to improve the strategy to better address client and user objectives, improving and innovating on the agency processes and deliverables to set new standards. Actively educate internal groups about motion design and video production. Build trusted relationships with clients and collaborate with AKQA multi-disciplinary project teams to create innovative solutions. Educate internal groups about motion graphics and provide a significant contribution to the development of client relationships. Develop streamlined motion design processes, strategic expansion, and maintenance of technical infrastructure. Assist and guide Motion Graphic Designers in their professional development and foster innovation in the Motion Graphic Design Team. Inspire and lead by example, setting professional standards for the Motion Graphic Design team members on an on-going basis. Train, mentor, and direct junior and mid-level creatives, while identifying and resolving critical issues. Lead Creative teams from a motion graphic design perspective. The position will have one (1) direct report.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Motion Design, Motion Graphics, Computer Graphics Design, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in job offered or as a Motions Graphics Designer or as an Associate Motion Graphic Designer.
Professional experience must include: Streamlined motion design processes, strategic expansion, and maintenance of technical infrastructure; Motion and video assets; Video/sound editing; 3d modeling; Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Cinema 4d, and Media Encoder; 3D Animation Workflow; Motion graphics tools (Adobe After effects, Audition, Premiere, Media Encoder, Flash, and Cinema 4D); and Design tools (Sketch, Photoshop, and Illustrator).
*Position requires limited travel (5%) across the United States.
