Insight

The internet is a powerful fuel for curiosity on which the younger generation thrives.

However, the relentless search for “What's next?” can prevent them from turning inspiration into action. When anything is possible, where do you start?

A person is holding a camera up to their face, preparing to take a photo. The scene is dimly lit with dramatic red lighting, casting strong shadows and highlighting the photographers hands and facial outline.
Abandoned, dimly lit industrial building with large concrete pillars, high ceiling, dirty floor, and broken windows. Light filters in from the windows and a small opening at the far end.
A person in a red shirt stands against a concrete wall in a dimly lit, industrial space beneath large, curved, overhead structures. The foreground is dark with patches of moss or dirt on the ground.

Idea

Google France partnered with AKQA to launch Curio-cité – a content platform that invites people to experiment with the world around them using Google tools.

A series of films, immersive 360-degree VR masterclasses, toolkits of curated Google products and live events allow people to experiment with a newfound passion.

Impact

The first episode puts users into the footsteps of urban explorer and photographer David De Rueda, to unlock the unseen parts of Paris.

The Curio-cité events were fully booked in less than five minutes. More than 2 million people watched the story on YouTube and Facebook, and through a dedicated Curio-cité page on Google Arts & Culture where the full experience comes together.
