Netflix Body Swap
The experience for the Netflix film It’s What’s Inside brings its science-fiction, body-swapping narrative to life. Powered by machine learning, it allows people to exchange voices and appearances for a surreal twist on social interaction, transforming viewers into active participants.
The initiative also won Gold for Innovation, Silver for Digital & Mobile Fan Engagement, Bronze awards for Branded Entertainment & Content and the Clio Entertainment x Snapchat AR Speciality Award.
The project pioneers a new form of audience participation by transforming the film’s unsettling themes of artificial intimacy and distortion into a tangible, interactive experience. The ‘pseudogänger’ concept applied a fusion of machine learning and creative expression, using real-time speech-to-speech voice conversion and facial animation to allow players to impersonate their friends’ digital clones. This turning of viewers into active participants demonstrates the power of technology to not only amplify a narrative but to become a compelling piece of entertainment in its own right.
