Urban Outlaw

“It evolved in a sense that it became this branded entertainment piece that we started to explore and connect with passion.”

Toronto based Director Tamir Moscovici joined the AKQA New York team and clients to showcase his documentary Urban Outlaw - a portrait of Magnus Walker, the rebel Porsche customiser who turned a hobby into an obsession, and an obsession into a successful business. The film follows Magnus in his downtown Los Angeles workshop, harvesting fragments from donor 911s, grafting them into vintage frames to create one-off automobiles with the spirit of Ferdinand Porsche but an ethos entirely his own.

Filmmaking has taken Tamir around the world with the pursuit of storytelling. The subjects of Tamir’s work span drastically but all have one thing in common - a combination of strong visuals and a realism that can range from glossy to gritty, but always honest. During the AKQA Insight, Tamir talked about his experience creating the story behind Urban Outlaw and how “the thesis was to try to figure out what drives his passion.”
