Be Bold For Change

“Challenge yourself and defy gender boundaries.”

On International Women’s Day, AKQA and clients welcomed writer and comedian Viv Groskop; author Emma Gannon and four-time ParalympicsGB sailor Hannah Stodel to an AKQA Insight hosted in London. Each woman first described the risks they had taken – on stage, online or on board – to achieve their dreams and discover their authentic selves.

Host Rachel Barek, General Manager of AKQA Washington DC, then asked for advice on how the audience could be bold enough to change their own lives. For Viv, it was about not giving up on her dreams despite age and parenting – to “keep on keeping on”. Emma encouraged us to “fly our own freaky flag” and reminded us that being bold can mean quiet as well as showcasing achievements. Hannah stressed that it’s “okay to be different” and not to accept failure despite setbacks. All three women cited younger activists as the role models they admired most.
